Articles of Faith
The articles of faith are part of the iman (faith) of a practicing Muslim. The six traditional articles of faith are the belief in the oneness of Allah (God), angels, prophets, scriptures, day of resurrection and judgment, and divine destiny.
Oneness of Allah: For person to be a Muslim he/she must believe that there is only One true almighty God of the universe with no partner or children. That Allah is unique, unlike his creation and perfect in every way.
Angles: They are Allah's creation to follow each and every of Allah's commands and orders perfectly and are never disobedient to his will.
Prophets: Muslims must believe in prophets that are mentioned in the Quran and prophets that came before Prophet Muhammad (pbuh). Muslims believe in prophets that have similar status in Christianity and Judaism such as Prophet Adam, Noah, Abraham, Jacob, Moses, David, Solomon, and Jesus and others who came before Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon them all).
Scriptures: A Muslim must believe that scripture of the Torah (Old Testament), Zabur (Psalms), Enjil (New Testament), and the holy Quran were all revealed and sent down by Allah (God) to this world as a guidance for mankind. Today Muslims do not follow the teaching of the Torah, Zabur, or the Enjil because they have been changed by human being. So Muslims believe that these three books have been corrupted by man and have lost their true guidance from Allah.
Day of Resurrection and Judgment: All people that have ever lived in the past, present and future will be resurrected from the dead and on judgment day will be fairly judged by Allah (God) for all of his/her actions that were carried out in this world.
Divine Destiny: Allah has complete knowledge and control of what happens in the entire universe not a single leaf drops from the tree without his will. Allah has knowledge of both good and evil and is the creator of all things even the Iblis (devil). Allah had all the knowledge of the events that took place in the past and has complete knowledge of what will happen in the future. But Allah has given human the free will to choose between good or evil.
